Why did people say that the bee industry lasts forever?
Humans cannot live without plants, and plants cannot live without insects, especially bees. In other words, where there are human beings, there are bees. As an environmental protection industry, beekeeping is being welcomed by more and more people, and beekeeping is expanding. Moreover, many people believe that the bee industry will last forever.
Why are bees so important?
Bees are a keystone species; if bees die off, they will end most life. In nature, various animals depend on bees for their survival because their food sources – nuts, berries, seeds, and fruits – rely on insect pollination.
We cannot live without bees. The United States Department of Agriculture estimates that pollinators like bees and butterflies help pollinate approximately 75 percent of the world’s flowering plants. Bees play a significant role in agriculture, pollinate crops, increase yields, and give rise to a lucrative honey industry. Bees are so important that millions are spent renting hives to pollinate farmers’ crops. Over one-third of the food we eat relies on pollination by bees, either directly or indirectly.
Where do bees live globally?
Wild bees species live on every continent except Antarctica. In North America, approximately 4,000 native bee species occupy ecosystems from forests to deserts to grasslands.
How many honey bee species are there?
There are over 20,000 known bee species in the world. They range from the tiny (2 mm) and solitary Perdita minima, known as the world’s most minor bee, to kumquat-sized species of carpenter bees.
While about 20,000 species of bees exist, only eight species of honey bees are recognized, with a total of 43 subspecies, although historically, seven to 11 species are recognized.
Which country has the most bees?
This statistic shows the number of beehives in leading countries worldwide (in thousand units). India has the largest number of beehives, totaling around 12.25 million, followed by China with about nine million.
How to protect the bees?
Scientists point to several causes for bee die-offs, including bee-killing pesticides, the loss of good habitat, disease, and our changing climate. While we’re working to address each of these problems, many things we can do right now to save the bees are to plant more pollinator-friendly plants; stop the use of bee-killing pesticides in parks, wildlife refuges, and other places bees should be safe; and promote sustainable, less pesticide-reliant agricultural practices.
